I am genuinely excited to introduce this. MusicianMapper now works as an app on your phone. Add it to your home screen and it opens full-screen with its own icon, with no app store and no download. It's the same site and the same account, so anything you change in the app shows up everywhere.
MusicianMapper was built to help musicians find each other, and musicians are always on the move, so getting it onto your home screen felt like the natural next step. I hope it makes it easier for you to find the people you want to play with, wherever you happen to be.

Thank you for being part of this. Every musician who drops a pin makes the map a little more useful for everyone else, and I'm grateful you're here.
Set it up in under a minute
iPhone (Safari)
- Open musicianmapper.com in Safari. Safari is the browser that installs web apps on iPhone.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. The MusicianMapper icon appears on your home screen.
Android (Chrome)
- Open musicianmapper.com in Chrome.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right.
- Tap Install app (or Add to Home screen), then confirm.
Computer (Chrome or Edge)
Look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar, click it and choose Install. MusicianMapper then opens in its own window.
What you get
- Its own icon and full screen. No browser address bar, so it feels like any other app.
- The same features, laid out for a phone. Map, List, Saved, Messages and Me sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen. The bar clears the iPhone's home indicator.
- Your location only when you ask. When you set up your profile, you can let the app detect your location or type a city instead. Your browser asks permission first.
- Updates without reinstalling. The app always loads the latest version from the network, so you never have to re-add it after we ship changes.
Things to know
- You may need to sign in again the first time. On iPhone, the home screen app keeps its own storage, separate from Safari, so it doesn't see the Safari sign-in. Sign in once inside the app and you stay signed in there.
- It needs a connection. The app doesn't store the map or your data for offline use. With no signal, it shows an "You're offline" page with a Try again button.
- Remove it like any app. On iPhone, press and hold the icon and choose Remove App. On Android, long-press it and choose Uninstall or Remove.
- Notifications are still email. Messages, contact requests and search alerts go to your inbox, not to your phone. Turn them on or off in your profile's email settings.
Why an app, and what's next
Checking the map is most useful when you're out and about, and a home screen icon is quicker than typing the address each time.
The web app is the first step toward versions in the app stores. We haven't set a date for those; until then, the home screen icon is the way to go.
Thanks for playing along. If the install doesn't work on your phone, tell us what device and browser you're using and we'll look into it.
